The Ōwairaka development will replace approximately 180 state houses with 700 - 900 new warm, dry, healthy homes. 220 of these will be new state homes, with the balance a mixture of affordable and market homes. By using land more efficiently than was done in the past, more homes for community housing can be built, along with much-needed homes for Auckland's housing market. Homes in more affordable price ranges will also be a priority within the Ōwairaka Development.
