DAY IN THE LIFE OF A COMMUNITY LIAISON ADVISER

The community liaison adviser is first point of contact between the community and construction teams. Their priority is the wellbeing of the community and supporting construction to stay on track by making sure our stakeholders are well informed and respected.

Creating a strong connection between residents and the alliance construction sites requires a special type of person. The Community Liaison Advisor (CLA) knows the intricate details of the construction work and programme and appreciates the impact that work can have on a community. Their priority is the wellbeing of the community at large and supporting construction to stay on track by making sure our stakeholders are well informed and feel respected.

When issues come up, the CLA helps address and solve problems.

This is where having the right person for the CLA role is important. The CLA is the intermediary between the community and the construction team. They work closely with all teams across the LEAD Alliance to develop and maintain high quality community engagement.

The CLA is the face and voice of the construction team to the community, and vice versa. They build trust between the construction team and stakeholders including homeowners, tenants, landlords, businesses, schools, utility companies and council. In this varied and busy role, the CLA delivers high quality communication across neighbourhoods as the ambassador for the alliance and the representative of the neighbours into the construction team.

We got to spend a typical day in the life of LEAD Alliance CLA Kirrily Poliko. We followed Kirrily in her rounds of the community where she works, talking to shop owners, build partners and residents and delivering information on infrastructure upgrades by Vector and Chorus, and the alliance construction teams.
