Spot the difference!

The last of the power poles and overhead cables have now been removed from Nash Road, McGregor St, Morrie Laing Ave, and Revel Ave in Waikōwhai, and look what a difference it makes to the streetscape!

Power poles gone in Waikōwhai !

A significant part of Piritahi’s work involves under-grounding power and communication lines. Removing overhead service lines and hosting them below ground protects them from damage during extreme weather events, increases network capacity and opens up residential streets for future growth.

Despite Covid-19 delays, the Waikōwhai team is still on schedule, now in the midst of laying smooth new footpaths and landscaping, leaving this area fresh and ready for new homes to be built.

Waikōwhai is part of the Roskill Development, which is a Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities Urban Development Delivery programme.
